Michelangelo's Accomplishments
Michelangelo was a great leader during the Italian Renaissance. His greatest glory was painting the Sistine Chapel, which bean in1508 and was completed in 1512. In the beginning, Michelangelo was to paint 12 pictures of the apostles around the outside of the ceiling, instead in doing that, Michelangelo made another suggestion and he used the central areas of the ceiling to paint the history of the Old Testament which included 300 figures.
In the beginning of 1491, Michelangelo carved Madonna of the Stair. It took him 1 year to complete it, next was the Pieta. It started in 1498 and finished in 1500. He began Doni Tondo in 1503, and took 2 years to complete the painting, in 1543, 23 years after the Sistine Chapel was finished off, Michelangelo began to paint the Last Judgement which was located over the altar at the same church as the Sistine Chapel.
Michelangelo was noted for use of colour, light, tone design, and craftsmanship. He also excelled in architecture, sculpture and anatomy.
